FOOD FIGHTS

Now that summer is in full swing, food fights are erupting across county lines in a battle for the coveted title of ‘best in innovative cuisine’.  The opportunities for you to partake in these culinary occasions are staggering.  In one week,  Southern California foodies savored a lineup of food and drink at “The Taste of Orange County,” “The Taste of Doheny” and San Diego’s “Taste of Summer.”  Not to be outdone, Los Angeles County’s finest are hosting “Club Culinaire of Southern California,” “The Second Annual Food & Wine Festival” and “The Taste,” in the weeks ahead.  As a food critic and restaurant reviewer, I’ve been crossing county lines – incognito – to seek out taste bud treasures.  Here’s my picks for the season.  Read the rest of this entry »

Making Sweet Music – San Juan Capistrano

For those of us who have long admired San Juan Capistrano’s rich heritage,  we think the sudden fuss over us – in the travel industry – may be a tad overdue.  Offering an impressive calendar of cultural and community events with world-class historic landmarks and an authentic cowboy culture, SJC is very, very good at making sweet music too.  As a consequence, the benefits of being the homestead for sweet music makers are huge. Why Waste Water Matters

In the 20th Century the western world enjoyed an abundance of high-quality, fresh water that was inexpensive to obtain, treat and transport. Today, many communities and industries face water shortages, deteriorating water quality and greater demand. It is the objective of the City of San Clemente Water Reclamation Plant to address this water shortage concern locally through improving the quality of recycled water and the production of sludge for limited uses.
